“There are those who make things happen. There are those who watch things happen.\u00a0 And there are those who wonder what the hell happened.”\u00a0 That’s what our good friend, Ron Rathbun, said when we saw him in San Diego.\u00a0 According to Ron, we are the kind of people who make things happen.\u00a0 That may be true, but I think I’ll actually feel like we are on a journey “making things happen” when we clear out of the U.S. and into Mexico. We leave tonight (let the butterflies begin.)<\/p>\n
We have spent a few days in San Diego doing last minute “to dos” and visiting friends. \u00a0We even broke out the folding bikes to run errands and visit the Maritime Museum for a field trip.<\/p>\n
We had a nice visit with Darold’s mom who flew out from Cape Cod. We are so lucky to have such great friends.\u00a0 So, so lucky.<\/p>\n
It’s funny to be back in San Diego because this is where Darold and I met back in 1990. Back when I was like 12 or something. In all seriousness, we met junior year at UC San Diego.\u00a0 Darold was a waterski instructor at Mission Bay and had long hair.\u00a0 I weighed a buck twenty.\u00a0 Oh, those were the days.\u00a0 I remember Darold teaching me how to sail on a dinghy in Mission Bay.\u00a0 I said I was afraid of capsizing and Darold said, “Well you are in luck …. today’s lesson is capsizing!” and we spent the day capsizing (and smooching under the capsized hull.)<\/p>\n
